My name is Molly Peebles Squire and I grew up in Lawrenceville, VA with two older brothers and a younger sister. We didn't know it at the time, but we lived in a "Norman Rockwell" painting! After growing up, moving away, and marrying my sixth grade boyfriend, we eventually settled in Emporia with our three young sons. Life was busy and fun to say the least. After many years of parenting, I was suddenly free for me.
When one of my brothers died, my best friend from home, Anne Outten Walker, invited me to paint to help me with my grieving. I was hooked! We used oils and I loved everything about the process. I wasn't good at the start, but I was determined to give it my all and I have ever since.
My paintings definitely reflect my upbringing and rural surroundings. I have always loved nature, but now it is more colorful than ever for me. Using my palette knife to paint cows, barns, cattails, and flowers gives the paintings a unique texture and spontaneity and lets you all know that I am happiest in my studio!
